Tesla Model 3 was promised to be available for masses and yet again Elon Must stood by his words, He handed first 30 cars to his customers. The event was held in Fremont, California, where all the company workers were present. Musk expressed that it was a great day for Tesla as he turned over the first car to its employee who placed an order for the car. The first production version of the Model 3 will be kept by Musk.
The Model 3 is considered as the most modest vehicle Tesla has built till date. It attributes this to a video screen over the dashboard and the streamlined interior. It is priced low, half of the Tesla Model X or Model S. The pricing starts at $35,000.
Musk said that making expensive cars was never their aim. He is delighted that they have come up with an affordable electric car that will suit the customer needs. He pointed out that there was no affordable electric car till date and now it is available.
Tesla’s growing popularity and the car’s affordability is one of the reason that the car maker has more than half a million reservations for this car. The updated reservation total manifests that Tesla has added over a hundred thousand potential buyers with each buyer paying a deposit of $1,000 before the delivery of the Model 3.
The challenge Tesla is facing is producing more numbers of cars so as to meet the demand. Till December the company expects to build twenty thousand Model 3s. Also by the end of next year, the company targets four hundred thousand vehicles in 2018.
Doug Field leads the Tesla vehicle program says that everything was focused on the way we could move this through the assembly line faster. They are working on how the efficiency could be increased keeping the quality as high as possible.
