A probe has been launched against employees at Porsche for checking their involvement in cheating of emission tests. The claims suggest that employees had a role to play in making alterations to the design engine management software with a view to cheat emission tests. The Frankfurt city’s prosecutor is also looking into employees at Robert Bosch to check their role in helping emissions fraud by Volkswagen.
VW, Audi and Porsche cars using diesel engines have been found with illegal software. Volkswagen group owns Audi, Porsche and VW brands. The prosecutor said that the Porsche probe was at a preliminary stage. Audi sells some of the Porsche models having 3.0-liter diesel engines.
Bosch probe :
A formal investigation of three managers at Bosch is being carried out to check whether they helped or encouraged emission cheating by VW. The prosecutor also said that the probe could be widened. Bosch aided in the development of an ECU – known as EDC17 for the EA168 diesel engine of Volkswagen which is in the middle of the emission cheating scandal.
